The latest report from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) indicated that Airtel succeeded in adding more subscribers than Jio in the month of August 2020.
28.99 lakh subscribers have been added by Airtel while 18.64 lakh subscribers additional by Jio remained significantly behind. In August, Vi (Vodafone Idea) still had a 12.28 lakh decline in subscribers.
With a 35.08 percent market share Reliance Jio had the largest share in the wireless market and 28.12 percent market share came second on Airtel.
The latest TRAI report for August 31 reported that wireless customers totaled 114,418 crores at the end of July and the number of crores increased to 114,792 at the end of August and this showed a monthly growth rate of 0.33%.
In August, compared with July, Jio’s subscriber add decreased considerably and decreased respectively from 35,54 lakhs to 18,64 lakhs.
Airtel also saw a decrease in subscriber growth from 32.60 to 28.99 lakhs in August, as opposed to its achievements in July.
But Jio ‘s achievement in August is substantially higher. In this month, to be exact, Airtel has added more subscribers than Jio to 10.35 lakh.
Approximately 12.28 lakh subscribers lost Vi (Vodafone Idea) , far less than the 37.26 lakh subscribers who lost in the month of July.
In the month of August, BSNL made a small profit of 2.14 lakh abonns. In wireless subscribers, Airtel ‘s monthly growth rate was 0.91%, while the growth rate in the Jio market was 0.47%.
According to TRAI, in August the wireless subscriber base for Kolkata and Himachal Pradesh regions reported a maximum growth of 1,13%.
