The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor was revealed in 2018. But now the company announced the successor to the 675 processor, which is the Snapdragon 678 processor. This upgrade focuses on photos and networking enhancements.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 is an octa-core, 11 nm LLP-built CPU. The processor promotes past one-to-one-minute production according to an official press release.
As a result, it has the Kryo 460 CPU in the Snapdragon 675 vs the 2.2GHz in the 2.0GHz. While the 678 has an Adreno 612 GPU, Qualcomm says its efficiency has improved.
For the inconvenience, the kryo is a semi-custom ARM series used by Qualcomm on Snapdragon processors. In this case, kryo 460 refers to the chorus Cortex A76 and Cortex A55. The 2xA76 high performance core is clocked at 2.2GHz according to Qualcomm’s definition.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 Soc Specs
In terms of specificity, the processor supports displaying FHD + in a maximum resolution of 2520×1080 pixels and a 10-bit color depth.
The Qualcomm Spectra TM 250L ISP features 14-bit cameras. It supports single / double camera systems up to 192MP and MFNR up to 25 / 16MP. The MFNR applies to the noise reduction of several frames here.
Qualcomm says that Qualcomm® AI supports third-gen portrait mode, low-light self-focus laser, 30fps 4k videos, 5x optical zoom, slow motion (1080p at 120fps). It supports HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding) and easily supports EIS.
The Adreno 612 GPU resembles the predecessor as described above. However, Qualcomm says that Unity, Messiah, NeoX and Unreal Engine 4 have configured this processor among other top games.
The Snapdragon 678 Soc is also fitted with the same X12 LTE. It does not accept 5G, as the name suggests. It supports downloading speeds of 600 Mbps and 150 Mbps upload speeds. The carry-on downlifting support is dual-SIM VoLTE and 3x20MHz.
The Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, QZSS, SBAD are all available for connectivity. The USB-C with USB-3.1 is available for the port.
